STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math)

Mrs. Hogan, STEAM Teacher

We are a team in STEAM! STEAM integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math - but it's so much more than that!

In STEAM, our East Quogue Wildcats learn about using the Engineering Design Process to identify and solve problems. STEAM aims to engage our students in problem-solving in small groups and sharpen our communication, collaboration, and creative skills.

All STEAM lessons and activities are aligned with the Common Core State Standards, Next Generation Science Standards, International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards, and the NY State Digital Science and Computer Fluency Learning Standards.

While in STEAM, our students use hands-on materials such as recycled materials, household items or STEAM "toys" like Keva Planks, Magna Tiles, and Legos to create builds that model and reflect solutions to problems in the world around them. They also use iPads and Chromebooks to explore different web-based applications for coding and 3D design and printing and websites that assist in problem-solving.
